While the Legacy alliance tended to hold fixed positions, the Juno alliance was incredibly mobile, their ships faster, able to conduct pack like motions in large groups. Advanced cooling systems put them in access to near Sun trajectories. This feature alone gave Juno an immense advantage had the unfolding events erupted into conflict, because they would be able to reach any part of the Sun system quicker. In hind sight, the leaders of these institutions, it seemed, had participated in a large scale game of chicken where in which neither held fast.
The consequences of the "great acceleration"" were felt both in space and on the ground. There was a paranoia that somehow, the Earth would be targeted, that Near Earth space would be attacked. This lead to sweeping legislation in 2841. The Alliances were recognized and defined by law. This distinction led to a mandate that forced an "Alliance balance of presence" within the Klaud-Juno ports. In other words, the individual KJ ports should have a balanced inventory of assets by members of both alliances. The logic was such that no port could be targeted in an attempt to gain advantages strategically. This mandate, as predicted, would open up a new can of worms. Now there would be policing in space.
While as a natural side effect to the "great acceleration", Lythia, the Mars city had become increasingly populated, there was something more notable during this century that was relevant to all of those who had invested political interests.
About a quarter of the lunar surface was city scape. Humans had been living for 6oo years on the moon and began to have "lunar children" as well. Despite all the medical advancements for foreign gravity support, many of these children simply died from illness. As a result, individuals were becoming visually recognizable as Moon natives. There were certain features, such as a slight arching forward of a longer neck that these moon natives tended to posses.
The Quet family, one of the larger surnames on the moon also had a very disturbing additional trait; slightly shorter torsos and longer legs. Humans on the Moon, were evolving quicker than expected. It should also be pointed out, as a side note, that the Quet family offspring who'd been lunar for many generations, were noticeably good at math.
